What is the difference between ISO 19794-2 and MINEX II?
MINEX II is a feasibility study evaluating matching performance at a baseline interoperability threshold for Match-on-Card based on ISO 19794-2. Test criteria and metrics are derived by the American standardization institute; NIST.
In the ISO 19794-2 template standard, there is room for other standardized elements and also proprietary elements within the framework for the standard. See figure.
MINEX II defines its own subset of the ISO template format. The risk with this template format is that it may not be fully compliant with other ISO 19794-2 templates. For example, headers are not used in MINEXII templates and this may have serious impacts as the 19794-2 continues to develop.
A mix of ISO and MINEX specified requirements may therefor not achieve interoperability. To leave the field open for technology that has not been tested in MINEX II, ISO 19794-2 is the preferred specification.
