“…it is important that the Match-on-Card technology is proven…”
André Vasconcelos
Director of ICT Department, AMA
Since 2008, the new Portuguese biometric Citizen Card is available in all regions of the country. The interest from the public is immense and AMA – the responsible agency – has had to establish new issuance sites in big cities.
“We saw a need for a high security ID document for these services and this new card enables electronic signatures and e-Government services for our citizens. And the biometrics is another step towards secure transactions.
Match-on-Card was the ideal method of doing fingerprint recognition for us, as the privacy of the citizen is secured since the fingerprint information never leaves the card and the fingerprint image cannot be recreated.
In a large implementation such as a national ID card, it is important that the Match-on-Card technology is proven in real life.”
“Match-on-Card is critical for us ”
Akeem Laval
Chief Technology & Operations Officer, Interswitch
Africa’s payment sector is growing, exploding maybe some would say. Seven years ago there were 26 ATMs in Nigeria, today there are more than 10,000. Interswitch is the company that made this possible. Using Match-on-Card technology they are looking to expand functionality on the ATMs and their concept across Africa.
By adding Match-on-Card to their payment card, Interswitch is able to solve two problems in an instant.
“ In addition to making financial services accessible for people who aren’t used to PINs or passwords, Match-on-Card enabled implementation without developing additional infrastructure, as the verification takes place between the card and the device only. It also offers a sufficient level of security in a cost-efficient manner.”
